Olga Karelits

Olga Karelits was born in the Donetsk region, Ukraine, in 1955.

In 1979, she graduated from the Moscow Surikov State Arts Institute. She is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, the sculpture section.

Since 1989, Olga has been participating in Russian and international symposiums, festivals and exhibitions.

Her monumental sculptures may be found in such galleries as Serre di Rapolano (Italy), Friedrichshafen (Germany), the Museon Sculpture Park in Moscow, in the State Tretyakov Gallery and in private collections in Russia and other countries.
Olga Karelits works with stone, bronze and ceramics.

Her sculptures live the laws based on sensations: she does not "speak", but transmits the state of her mind through the shape.

 

Olga’s artistic breakthrough took place in early 80-ies. A graduate of the Surikov Institute, Olga Karelits happened to be at an "artists’ dacha", in Pereslavl-Zalessky, a country house she recalls as "a place charged with artistic energy".
 
"There were about 30 of us, artists, who whipped up each other with ideas. Some well-known sculptures, who were our teachers, were also among us. At that period, I was trying to escape from "the academic principles of the art’ and to find myself".
